These atlas maps were produced in Hildburghausen, Amsterdam, and New York, and are considered some of the most detailed maps produced in the 19th Century. “Unusual description of the United States. Oddly shaped New Mexico, northern Texas boundary only suggested. GERMAN COLONY in TEXAS, here marked ‘Deutsche Colonie d. Mainzer Verein’, located west of Austin and north of San Antonio. FRENCH COLONY in TEXAS, here named ‘Franz Col., just west of San Antonio. Too much interesting detail to mention, a delight to study.”‘
