Grays New Map of the Countries Surrounding the Black Sea: Comprising Turkey in Europe, and Part of Turkey in Asia, Greece (Hellas), Southern Russia, Etc.

This hand colored map was made by O.W.Gray and son in 1881 for “The National Atlas”. The Black Sea is the center of this map illustrating all of the surrounding lands. Turkey in Europe, part of Turkey in Asia, Greece, and Southern Russia are shown. Two insets show the “Environs of Athens and Piraeus” and “The Bosphorus or Strait of Constantinople”. A list of “Etymological Explanation” is provided with translations of foreign terms used on the map. Provinces are distinguished by color. Other details include the names of departments,countries and provinces, railroads, major roads,rivers, mountains,and lakes.
