This beautiful colored chart of the Anacostia River where is flows between the U.S. Navy Yard and Anacostia. The Washington Barracks near Buzzard Point is included, which is now the National Defense University. The proposed route – Anacostia, Surratsvillem and Brandywine railway. Some interesting features on this map include the placement of the Insane Asylum, which was established in 1855 for the treatment of mentally ill patients. During the Civil War, wounded soldiers were treated there, but said they were at St. Elizabeths Hospital, which was officially renamed in 1916. This chart was to accompany the report of the Commissioners, D.C. on Senate bill #3343. It is from the Senate Report 2961 58 3. Details include contour lines, street and highway names, rivers, and railroads.
