We are proud to offer this rare map of the City of Newport, Rhode Island, published by Everts and Richards in their “Atlas of Rhode Island” in 1895. This fine, large-scale map shows buildings, large property owners, roads, railroads, public buildings, bridges, stage lines, electric car lines, churches, which buildings were wood, brick or stone, barns, stables, icehouses, telegraph offices , and fire houses. This map offer an amazing look at turn of the century Newport. This map shows the Coddington Point area south to Island Cemetery area. A number of old forts and earthworks are show that I could not locate on current maps. Many roads are gone. A fantastic, very large important piece of Newport history.
