Belgium Foederatum Emendatius Auctum et Novissime Editum

An amazing map of present day Netherlands by Danckerts with original hand color. This map was most likely published between 1690-1700. The map includes an ornate cartouche, featuring allegorical figures and classical iconography. A winged figure is shown, blowing a trumpet, signifying the announcement or celebration of the federated provinces strength. The cartouche also includes the lion shield, a symbol associated with the Low Countries.
