In order to use space on the paper more efficiently and thus increase the detail of the map, this large, richly decorative map shows Norway in two parts. This innovation helped this map to a position of influence, as later cartographers such as Mortier and Danckerts used De Wits technique in their own Norway maps. In addition to its innovative design, the map is beautifully engraved and features a lovely cartouche with people and fir trees.
