This detailed, well-maintained map of Michigan was issued in George F. Crams “Standard American Atlas” in 1884. Cram identifies myriad finished and unfinished railroad lines and township lines within the state. Some notes on Lake Huron are also shown. In the insets, the map shows Isle Royale and Ontonagon, Baraga, and Marquette counties. Sweeping bold red lines are used to depict the state while the counties are highlighted with yellow. The map also painstakingly marks numerous rivers, lighthouses, mountains, mills, sand dunes, light houses, military reservations, Native American reservations, lakes, bays, towns, springs, mines, and more. An insightful glimpse of the state in 1884!’
