FRAMED Johnsons New Map of the State of Texas’
Out of stock
This is a majestic framed piece that depicts Texas during the height of the Civil War era. As the strife raged throughout the southeast of this nation, we see Texas expanding and growing rapidly west. Here we see counties blossoming across the eastern half of the state, each of them distinctly hand colored, as the west is divided into the four enormous counties, “Presidio”, “El Paso”, “Bexar”, and one unnamed territory reaching into the panhandle. Throughout the map we see incredible detail not just for topography, and hydrography, but also towns, railroads, and even wagon roads. Three insets show us Sabine Lake, Galveston Bay, and the Texas panhandle. Surrounded by a decorative border, this beautiful map is typical of Johnsons excellent sense of presentation, as well as outstanding cartography. Condition is good with minimal supportive. This rare item is handsomely framed with all archival precautions taken. Framed with inner mat, marbleized paper, inner liner, cloth mat, UV protective glass and ornate dark wood frame.
