This advertisement for the Barnum and Bailey Circus shows two dogs chasing a basketball, a bear balancing on a ball, and a band of seals in the background. The Barnum and Bailey Circus started in 1882 as a merger of two circuses: Cooper & Bailey Circus and P.T. Barnum’s Great Traveling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan, and Hippodrome. It was later sold to the Ringling Bros. after Bailey passed away in 1906.
