The creation of the railroads not only created a way to transport goods, but it soon became a popular mode of transport for leisure and travel. Born in Austria and immigrated to the U.S. in 1923, artist Gustav Krollman soon began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad to create illustrations for the railroad’s promotional travel campaign. The American Far West quickly became a popular travel destination for easterners and the advertisements was a large influence. The extreme detail, bold colors, and contrast to add depth added to the allure of the unknown locations. This beautiful vintage print features Mt. St. Helens across the lake through a break in the trees. This exquisite painting would look fantastic framed on any wall and a great collectors item for the long lost love of train travel advertisements.
